Chalking
Development of fine powder on the paint surface due to weathering that can cause discoloration.

Possible causes:
  • The wall is not completely cured (too alkali) when the paint was applied
  • Use of lower quality paints
  • Use of Interior paint for outdoor surface

  • Solutions:
Start with removing the “chalk” by scrubbing the surface with sand paper then rinse thoroughly with hose or pressure water. Once dried, check the surface by running your hands through the surface. If noticeable chalk still exist, apply wall sealer PERMASEALER® before repainting it with top quality exterior coating PERMACOAT®. If there is no chalk present, primer is not necessary.
